Week Twelve!

What did you learn this week? We learned a lot about density. This was super fun to learn about. We did an activity where we predicted if a small and large dice would sink or float. We had to discuss why we thought this and then use our tools to help us figure it out what the correct answer would be. Then we looked at checkers in water versus salt water. Then we looked at M&Ms in water and looked at what colors spread faster than others. We had to prove our reasoning to others and how we would collect that data. For the M&M experiment that we did, we drew five circle all the same size and we looked at them to see which spread outside the circle fastest.  Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? I was able to relate some of what I learned to what I knew. Learning and talking about density was a good reminder and refreshing. It has been a while since I had talked about those things so it was good to go over them again. With the M&M activity, I kne...

Week Eleven!

What did you learn this week? This week we learned a lot of new things. We first discussed the homework from last week with our groups. It was cool to hear everyone else's ideas about the text we read. We then did a group whole class share and it made me better to hear my peers and how they had similar ideas to me. We then did some activities where we measured mass, volume, electricity, magnetics, and sink or float of multiple objects. It was cool to see what worked and what did not. We compared them to the other objects and to the other group's results.  Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? I was mostly able to relate what I knew to what I was learning today. I could kind of guess which things would do what. The only thing that I had to refresh my memory on was how to record volume and how to use the scale. Also did not know how to do electricity so when I learned that I thought it was interesting.  How can you apply what you've learned to ...

Week Ten!

What did you learn this week? This week was so hands on. It was lots of fun to experiment and look and observe new things and I learned a lot about what I previously knew and was able to connect it to what I was seeing to make inferences on why certain reactions were happening. The first station we went to was the plunger station. At this one we noticed the plunger had a hard time sticking to surfaces that were not flat and solid. The second was the ice station. I thought that the ice would melt faster in the wood because I thought it would just absorb but it melted fastest in the metal. Next, I observed condensation which was fun. Next, I watched diet coke versus coke to see how it floats and sinks. Was very interesting. Then I saw the reaction between vinegar and baking soda. Then I saw the m&ms in water and how their colors faded. It was a super cool activity that taught me a lot. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? I am able to relate to some...
